According to the relevant notice of the Ministry of Health, from May 27th, all eligible critically ill patients in the disaster area will be transferred to Huaxi Hospital for "fixed-point treatment". In order to "prepare" for large-scale rescue of the seriously wounded, Huaxi Hospital is expanding the beds in the intensive care unit. At present, the number of beds in the comprehensive ICU ward has reached more than 80, and will continue to triple with the increase of the wounded. At the same time, the Ministry of Health has sent 10 intensive care experts and more than 40 nurses to the ICU of West China Hospital to help treat the critically wounded.

At 8: 30 am on May 18, after two days of investigation, the Mental Health Center of Huaxi Hospital officially launched psychological crisis intervention. Eight volunteer teams, composed of psychological counselors, went to places where the victims were concentrated to carry out psychological crisis intervention, aiming at alleviating the psychological crisis of the victims after the disaster, giving appropriate psychological assistance in time and getting out of trouble as soon as possible. At 8: 30 in the morning, Professor Zhang and Professor Li Jing from the Mental Health Center of West China Hospital introduced the purpose, significance and content of this intervention and the related contents of the Intervention Manual of Earthquake Psychological Crisis, and then answered the questions of psychological counseling volunteers. Then the volunteers were divided into eight groups and rushed to various destinations. In the morning 10, one of the intervention groups came to the orthopedic ward where the wounded were more distributed. There is a sad atmosphere in the ward: the groans of the wounded, the sobs of the family members, and the desperate eyes, all of which show that psychological crisis intervention is timely and necessary. After simple arrangement, the intervention group entered the ward and gave one-on-one psychological counseling to the wounded. Psychological counseling is not a simple dialogue and communication, but a purposeful way to guide patients to vent their inner panic and sadness, encourage them to face the reality bravely, pass on their love and support, prevent secondary psychological barriers, and finally help them get out of the predicament and return to society. An hour later, the crisis intervention was basically completed. In order to better encourage the wounded and their families to face the reality correctly and establish an atmosphere of mutual support and encouragement, the intervention group organized an activity of holding hands to convey love. All the staff in the ward hold hands and tell their feelings or send blessings in turn, so that this love can be passed on forever.
Huaxi Hospital initiated psychological crisis intervention after disaster.

The dispatched working group has arrived in Shuangliu Epidemic Prevention Bureau, Deyang Sixth People's Hospital and Beichuan disaster area on May 17, Dujiangyan and Shifang on May 18, and plans to go to schools in Dujiangyan and Wenjiang on May 19 to carry out psychological crisis intervention for teachers and students transferred from the disaster area.
