Guangdong Ocean University is two universities. Guangdong Ocean University is a provincial key construction university jointly established by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources. It is a comprehensive ocean university with multi-disciplinary coordinated development, an excellent college for undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education, and a key discipline construction university of high-level universities in Guangdong Province.

The campus environment of the school is beautiful, with mountains and rivers, evergreen trees and fragrant flowers. It is an ideal place for students to study and become talents. The school enrolls students from 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, with 38,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students, and adult higher education students10.2 million.

At present, the school has five key construction disciplines of high-level universities in Guangdong Province and six provincial key disciplines, including aquatic products, marine science, food science and engineering, marine engineering of ships and rotten cars, and crop science. Among them, two first-class disciplines of aquatic product processing and storage engineering are listed as key disciplines to climb the peak, and the first-class disciplines of marine science are listed as key disciplines with advantages.
