Dalian Maritime University, referred to as Haida for short, is a science and engineering college with the characteristics of shipping and multi-disciplinary development directly under the Ministry of Transport, and is one of the maritime colleges recognized by the International Maritime Organization. Dalian Maritime University has a long history. During the 40 years from the late Qing Dynasty to the founding of New China, only three maritime colleges in China were merged. 1953 Dalian Maritime College was established by the merger of Northeast Maritime College, Shanghai Maritime College and Fujian Maritime College. 1978 Dalian Maritime College was listed as a national key university by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. 1994 Dalian Maritime College was renamed Dalian Maritime University, and key projects of Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Education, Liaoning Province and Dalian City were established. The first batch of universities in China are "Project 2 1 1", "Excellent Engineer Training Plan" and "Excellent Legal Talents Training Plan".
