The Three of us is a collection of essays by Mr. Jiang Yang, which records her life experiences with her husband, Mr. Qian Zhongshu, and her daughter, Qian Yuan. The touching part of this book lies in the injustice of "fate" and the suffering of life. Mr Jiang Yang didn't complain, but explained in a calm tone.

Qian Yuan is the only daughter of Qian Zhongshu and Jiang Yang. They used to be a family of four-Qian Yuan's first husband committed suicide in a special period. Among the three of us, Mr. Jiang Yang said it very lightly. He just said to Mr. Jiang Yang, "Mom, I can't stand it." When it refers to mental pain, it also includes physical pain.

From Mr. Jiang Yang's point of view, among the three of us, Qian Yuan (1997) was the first to leave. That year, Qian Yuan was 60 years old. Although it can't be described as a white-haired man sending a black-haired man, for Mr. Jiang Yang, who is 86 years old, the pain of losing his daughter is no less than that of a white-haired man sending a black-haired man. The following year, Mr. Qian Zhongshu died. Mr Jiang Yang stayed alone in his old house. In 20 16, Mr. Jiang Yang died at the age of 105, so she lived alone for eighteen years.

The Three of us was written in 2003, when our daughter Qian Yuan and her husband Qian Zhongshu both died. When Mr. Jiang Yang wrote about the indelible warmth and suffering in his life at the age of 92, as an outsider and a younger generation, I'm afraid it's hard to imagine that kind of detachment.

The three of us can be divided into three parts The first part begins with a dream of Mr Jiang Yang when he wrote this book. This part echoes the contents of another book by Mr. Yang, Walking to the Edge of Life, which is his thinking and understanding of life when he is nearly a hundred years old. The second part tells the deep feelings of Qian Zhongshu and Qian Yuan in the last stage of their lives. The third part starts with the little things in life and records the joys and sorrows of their families and their lives.

This book is well worth reading. I happened to be on a business trip in Qufu, Shandong Province when this book was published, so I bought one. Buying books in Confucius' hometown is also a special fate with the three of us.

Mr. Jiang Yang is a noble family and scholarly family. Her sister, Yang Bi, is a translator of Vanity Fair. Her pen name "Xinyi" was obtained by disassembling the word "must". Mr. Jiang Yang also has the novel Bath and a series of essays Six Chapters of Cadre School. It is also a rare fine text. Yang Yinyu, the president of Beijing Women's Normal University, mentioned by Mr. Lu Xun in the article "In Memory of Liu Hezhen", is the aunt of Mr. Jiang Yang and the first female university president in China. Jiang Yang has an article "Remembering My Aunt" in memory of this educator who was killed by the Japanese invaders.
