Southern Medical University, formerly known as the First Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, is a provincial-level key university of "2 1 1 project" in Guangdong Province and a first-class garden-style college in Guangdong Province. Founded in 195 1 and 1979, it was identified as a national key university, and was approved as one of the eight national eight-year medical education pilot colleges in 2004.
