Xiamen University (XMU for short) was founded in 192 1 by Mr. Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader. It is located in Xiamen, Fujian Province and directly under the Ministry of Education. It is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university directly under the central government, known as "the strong in the South", a national "double-class" world-class university construction university, and a national "2008".

This university is the first university founded by overseas Chinese in the history of modern education in China, and one of the earliest universities in China to recruit graduate students. It is the first university in China to build an independent campus overseas. It is led by the national "20 1 1 Plan", jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the State Bureau of National Defense Science and Technology, Fujian Province and Xiamen City, and the first batch of 20 independent degree examination universities. Xiamen University is known as "the most beautiful university in China", facing Gulangyu Island, a world cultural heritage, across the sea.
