East China University of Political Science and Law (Hua Zheng), located in Shanghai, the financial center of China, was selected as the first batch of "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan" in China. The first batch of institutions of higher learning in politics and law established for New China, the overseas students' institutions receiving scholarships from the China government, the first batch of units awarding master's degrees in law in China, members of four departments of five institutes, and founding members of the Asian Law Society, are key universities in Shanghai, focusing on law and eclectic in economics, management, arts and sciences, and are known as the "Oriental Pearl of legal education".
East China University of Political Science and Law, formerly known as East China University of Political Science and Law, was formed by merging the law departments, political departments and social departments of nine universities, including St. John's University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Soochow University, Xiamen University, Hujiang University, Anhui University, Shanghai University and Aurora University. The school was merged into Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences1958; 1963 rebuilt, enrolled students the following year; 1966 to stop enrollment, 1972 to cancel enrollment; 1March, 979, with the approval of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the State Council, the school resumed classes for the second time; In March 2007, with the approval of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed East China University of Political Science and Law.
