Formed for historical reasons, one is China University of Mining and the other is China University of Mining and Technology. No Beijing campus is in Xuzhou, Jiangsu. Originally in Beijing, when the relationship with the former Soviet Union was bad, the state asked to move out of Beijing in order to protect the school. I moved to Sichuan and then to Xuzhou. Those who stayed in Beijing later became China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing). Similarly, there are schools such as China Geology and China Petroleum.
