During the period of 1938, due to the war, Henan University was forced to move south. At that time, through the efforts of famous educator Ma Shiying and others, more than 4,000 teachers and students were finally transported from Zhoukou to Guizhou.

Daxia University, founded in 1924, was originally a private university in Shanghai.
