Brief introduction of Central South University

Central South University, or CSU for short, is a full-time undergraduate and graduate school focusing on engineering, science, management, literature, law, economics and teaching in Hunan Province, China, and a comprehensive university directly under China.

Changsha City, Hunan Province, located on the banks of the beautiful Xiangjiang River, is the first batch of universities directly under the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national "double-first-class" high-level characteristic colleges, the excellent doctoral education and training program graduate education innovation program universities, the basic capacity building project of central and western universities, the world-class discipline construction university, the national independent innovation demonstration zone, and the first batch of pilot units of fashion design and engineering (MDes).

The predecessor of Central South University can be traced back to Hunan Normal University, which was founded in 1903. After many mergers, renaming and reorganization, it was formed in 2000 by the merger of Changsha Railway Institute, Hunan Medical University, Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and Hunan Institute of Water Conservancy and Electric Power.
