The school was founded in 1956. In 2000, it was assigned to Sichuan Province by the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and was managed by Sichuan Post and Telecommunications Administration, Sichuan Telecom Company and Sichuan Telecom Industry Group Co., Ltd. successively. Approved by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, Sichuan Vocational and Technical College of Posts and Telecommunications was established in 2003 on the basis of the original Sichuan Post and Telecommunications School.
