The State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Development Engineering was jointly applied by Chengdu University of Technology and Southwest Petroleum University on 1988, and was established on 1990 with the approval of the State Planning Commission and the State Education Commission. This is a joint laboratory. The laboratory passed the national acceptance on 1995 and was officially opened to the outside world. It passed the national evaluation in 2000 and achieved good results. The laboratory directors are Zhou Shouwei and Liu Jiaoshou, and the academic committee director is Professor Liu Baojun, an academician of China Academy of Sciences. At present, the laboratory has two sub-rooms of "Reservoir Geology" and "Oil and Gas Development Engineering", which are located in Chengdu University of Technology and Southwest Petroleum University respectively.
