Tianjin University of Commerce, formerly known as Tianjin Business School, was founded by the Ministry of Commerce and Tianjin Municipal People's Government on 1980. During the period of 1998, the school implemented the central and local * * * construction management system, focusing on local management. In 2007, the school was renamed Tianjin University of Commerce.

The school has more than 22,900 students, including 14 colleges and universities, including mechanical engineering college, economics college, management college, accounting college, biotechnology and food science college, law school, public administration college, Marxism college, foreign language college, science college, information engineering college, international education cooperation college, art college, higher vocational and continuing education college, as well as foreign language teaching department and basic course teaching department.
