The Institute of Basic Psychology is a scientific research institution under the School of Psychology of Shaanxi Normal University. At present, there are researchers 12 in the institute, including 4 professors, 4 associate professors and 4 lecturers. Among the researchers, there are 2 "National 100 Million Excellent Talents" 1 person and "New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education". The focus of this study is divided into cognitive process and development, personality and cognition, and western schools of psychology. The researchers of this institute have undertaken nearly 10 projects such as National Natural Science Foundation, National Social Science Fund, Planning Project of Ministry of Education and Zheshe Project of Shaanxi Province, and won many teaching and research awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level. The college enrolls about 5 doctoral students and 20 master students every year.

The key research areas of the institute include aviation psychology, clinical psychology and consultation, occupational health psychology, human resource management, psychological rehabilitation of the disabled, sports psychology, psychological warfare and so on.
