Xi 'an University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as Xi 'an University of Science and Technology) is located in Xi 'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is a university jointly established by People's Republic of China (PRC) Emergency Management Department and Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. It has been selected into universities with excellent engineer education and training program of the Ministry of Education, universities with basic capacity building projects in central and western China, and universities with innovative and entrepreneurial training programs for college students.
It is also one of the first batch of national pilot schools for the implementation of new engineering research and practice projects, excellent schools for undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education, provincial-level high-level universities in Shaanxi Province, first-class universities and first-class disciplines in Shaanxi Province, and emergency management colleges. It is one of the initiators of the project "1+2+ 1 China-US Talent Training Plan" and a member of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance.
School history and current size:
The history of the school can be traced back to the Department of Mining and Metallurgy, School of Engineering, Beiyang University, which was founded in 1895. 1938 moved to the Department of Mining and Metallurgy of Northwest Institute of Technology, 1957 merged into Xi Jiaotong University, 1958 independently established Xi 'an Mining Institute from Xi Jiaotong University. It was one of the only two five-year undergraduate colleges under the former Ministry of Coal Industry at that time. During the period of 1998, the school implemented the principle of "central and local co-construction, local management first" and was placed under Shaanxi Province. 1999 was renamed Xi Institute of Science and Technology, and in 2003 it was renamed Xi 'an University of Science and Technology.
As of March 2022, the school has two campuses, Yanta and Lintong, covering an area of 920,000 square meters; There are graduate schools and 20 colleges (departments), offering 60 undergraduate majors; At present, there are 6 postdoctoral research stations, 7 first-class doctoral programs, 26 first-class master programs, and master degree authorization points 12. 25,000 full-time students; There are nearly 2,300 faculty members, including more than 400 full-time teachers/kloc-0.
