Training objectives: This major trains students to master the basic theories, basic knowledge, basic methods and computer principles of mathematics, master the basic theories and teaching skills of pedagogy, have the ability to use mathematical knowledge and use computers to solve practical mathematical problems, and have professionals engaged in mathematical research, teaching and management independently.
School strength: Mathematics and applied mathematics is one of the earliest majors established in Hainan Normal University. It is a characteristic specialty in Hainan Province and a school-level brand specialty. He has a master's degree in mathematics, a master's degree in education (mathematics) and three provincial-level excellent courses. There are 6 professors with doctoral degrees, 6 associate professors 12, and 6 teachers 10. This major has complete teaching facilities and rich books and materials; It has four laboratories, including computer basic laboratory and mathematical modeling laboratory. Training objectives: Science majors learn the mathematical foundation of information technology, computing technology and operation control technology, and cultivate professionals who have good mathematical foundation and mathematical thinking ability, master basic theories, methods and skills with computational mathematics as the main body, receive preliminary training in mathematical theory research, mathematical modeling and scientific calculation, and can solve practical problems in information technology or scientific and engineering calculation.

Statistical professionals
Training objectives: This major trains students to have strong computer and statistical software application ability, good mathematical foundation, solid basic knowledge of accounting and economics, certain ability to independently observe, analyze and study social and economic problems, systematically master statistical principles and methods, adapt to various accounting practices, and become practical and general-purpose talents who specialize in processing and analyzing various data by statistical methods.

The existing master's degree program in mathematics can recruit graduate students majoring in probability theory and mathematical statistics. It has a national first-class hardware environment for statistical teaching and research, such as four laboratories: scientific calculation and statistical analysis laboratory, statistical research and consultation center and statistical teaching demonstration center. The laboratory has real statistical and mathematical software such as SPSS, S-plus, Eviews, R and Matlab, and has an independent telephone survey system.
