Yunnan University for Nationalities, located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is a comprehensive provincial-level key university approved by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the Ministry of Education and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. It is a first-class discipline-oriented university in Yunnan, selected into the excellent legal talents education and training plan of the Ministry of Education, the bilingual talents training base of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and the overseas students in China receive scholarships from the China government. It is a doctoral degree awarding unit.
Yunnan University for Nationalities was founded in August 195 1, formerly known as Yunnan University for Nationalities, and it is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning for nationalities founded by the people of China. In April 2003, it was renamed Yunnan University for Nationalities.
In March 2023, the school official website showed that the school had two campuses: Lianhua Campus and Yuhua Campus. The school covers an area of 2,550 mu, with a building area of 8 1.95 million square meters. There are more than 2.4 million paper books and nearly 1.3 million e-books. There are 26 colleges and 76 undergraduate majors.
The school has 2 postdoctoral research stations, 2 first-class doctoral programs, 1 first-class master program 16, two disciplines master program 16, and professional master program 16, with 65,438 faculty members and 33,344 students, including 27,244 undergraduates and 37,244 postgraduates.
Second, cooperation and exchanges:
In August 2022, the school official website showed that the school 198 1 began to recruit foreign students, and 1992 began to recruit foreign graduate students. It is one of the earliest universities in Yunnan Province to recruit foreign students and teach Chinese as a foreign language. It has established cooperative and exchange relations with more than 80 universities or academic institutions in more than 20 countries, including the United States, Norway, Japan and South Korea.
The school signed strategic cooperation agreements with China Academy of Social Sciences Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Institute of Religious Studies, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Yunnan Baiyao Group, Lijiang, Dehong, Shangri-La, Xishuangbanna and other scientific research institutes, universities and cities to carry out substantive research work.
