Generally speaking, there are fewer foreign language universities in Japan. Two countries (or one), one public, and several private. They are tokyo university of foreign studies, Department of Foreign Languages of Osaka University (Jimian Campus, formerly known as Osaka Foreign Studies University) and Kobe Foreign Studies University. Private enterprises include Nagoya Foreign Studies University, Kyoto Foreign Studies University, Kanda Foreign Studies University, Kansai Foreign Studies University and Nagasaki Foreign Studies University. Private schools are basically at the level of four non-universities and two ordinary universities, among which Nagoya Foreign Studies University and Kyoto Foreign Studies University are relatively better. If you want to do academics, especially Japanese, you can also consider Kansai Foreign Languages, because as far as I know, several Japanese scholars have been enrolled in this school after retirement.

Back to the public, Tokyo Foreign Languages Department and Osaka University Foreign Languages Department, Kobe Foreign Languages Department have their own strengths. The deviation value is about 68-70 in the east, 66-68 in the south and 65-67.5 in the east. In terms of subject setting, both foreign languages and foreign languages are comprehensive, of which the former is stronger in Asian and African languages and the latter is stronger in European languages. The number of students is around 4000-5000 (yes, you heard me right, not 4000-5000, but 4000-5000). There are few foreign language subjects in Kobe, and the number of students is only in the early 2000 s, but as long as the subjects offered are basically the first, such as Chinese and Spanish. It's good to be admitted to any of the three schools. Of course, on the other hand, the deviation value above 65 is actually very difficult to test. In private, everything is below 55. Of course, this 55 is not bad, but compared with the first three, the gap is relatively large.
