After years of construction and development, the Institute of Land and Resources Engineering has made great progress in all aspects of software and hardware. There are four departments, one institute, seven undergraduate majors, eleven master of engineering majors, three master of science majors, two master of management majors, four master of engineering majors, one doctor of engineering major, three doctor of management majors, two postdoctoral research stations and three provincial key disciplines. 1June, 1998, the discipline of geology, mining and mineral processing of the College was recognized as "Yunnan Mining Development Industry-University-Research Joint Development Center" by the Coordination Group of Industry-University-Research Joint Development Project of Yunnan Province and Yunnan Economic and Trade Commission, and the "Kunming University of Science and Technology Safety Production Training Center" established by the College was the first national secondary safety production training institution recognized by state administration of work safety in 2003. In 2006, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education established the "Yunnan Geological Resources and Geological Engineering Innovative Talents Training Base" in the College, and at the same time, the Ministry of Education approved the College as the construction unit of "Efficient Utilization of Western Characteristic Mineral Resources". There is also the Southwest Geological Survey Institute of China Nonferrous Geological Survey Center. In addition, there are 10 research institutes (centers) approved by schools or relevant departments, which use their respective academic advantages to carry out relevant scientific research work.
There are 28 faculty members/kloc-0, of whom 73% are full-time teachers, 27% have doctoral degrees, and 2 1% have full-time titles. Through various ways of training and exercise, a group of young and middle-aged backbone teachers have emerged, who play the role of connecting the preceding with the following, and assume the role of teaching teachers of main courses or leaders of important scientific research projects.
According to the tenth five-year plan and the development goal and direction of 20 10, combined with the actual situation of the college, future academy's school-running goal is: aiming at the international academic frontier, based on the southwest, radiating the whole country and Southeast Asia, serving the mining industry and urban construction, taking undergraduate education as the main body, adapting postgraduate training and scientific research, coordinating the development of adult education and continuing education, and cooperating with engineering as the main body to build the college into a key college with distinctive characteristics and a western university.
