The admission line is a minimum score (total score) standard for recruiting new students determined by the provincial admissions department according to the college entrance examination results of all local candidates and the enrollment plan issued by the state. Only the files of candidates (usually called "on-line candidates") whose total score in the college entrance examination reaches or exceeds this score are eligible to be read by the admissions institutions and selected for admission. Under normal circumstances, "online candidates" are about 20% more than planned enrollment. Admission lines in different places are determined according to disciplines and batches.
