The Life of the Characters in Xin Xu's Works
1977 1 graduated from the English Department of Nanjing University, and 1988 obtained a master's degree in linguistics from the University of Illinois in Northeast America. 1977 has been teaching at Nanjing university, and 1985-6 has been the deputy director of English department. After 1988, he mainly engaged in the study of Jewish religion, culture and history, as well as the history of Jewish diaspora in China. Active participation in international academic activities and international academic exchanges is an important feature of his academic activities. He has visited the United States, Israel, Germany, Britain, Canada and other countries many times. He is the first scholar in China (1988) who visited Israel and gave a public lecture at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. From 65438 to 0995, he studied Judaism at Hebrew Union College, and served as a visiting scholar at the Jewish Culture Research Center of Harvard University from 65438 to 0996 and 65438 to 0998. He has taught in relevant universities in the United States for three times. Since 1995, he has been invited to give more than 300 English academic lectures abroad. Because of his academic activities and achievements, he is regarded as the leader and the most influential scholar of Jewish studies in China by international academic circles. 1996 won the Flanders Memorial Special Award in the United States. In 2002, Baal-Ilan University awarded him an honorary doctorate in philosophy in recognition of his extremely important contribution to the study of Jewish culture in China. At present, he is the president of China Jewish Culture Research Association (International), the vice chairman of China World Ancient History Research Association, and the executive director of China Middle East Society.
