Jiangsu Open University is an institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, which has the right to run undergraduate courses and grant bachelor's degrees.

Jiangsu University is a key comprehensive university approved by the Ministry of Education in August, 200012000. It was formed by the merger of the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Normal College.
