One summer more than ten years ago, I held a graduation ceremony for graduate students in the Institute of Ancient Books Arrangement of Fudan University. One of my classmates invited me to write a graduation message for their graduates. I wrote an oil couplet, the first part of which even I can't remember clearly. The second part is: "Families always succeed, and they always earn money. Don't forget to learn. " Many years later, I don't know why, the second half of the couplet became an online celebrity couplet. The class cadre students who asked me to write couplets on behalf of graduates died of illness a few years ago. Young life, so withered, let me have a sigh of impermanence; "Run the world of mortals, don't forget to learn" was a bit like chicken soup when it was written, but today, for me, the soup has been spilled, leaving not only inspiration, but also sadness.

This is history. How do I comfort myself every time I get into such a situation? Is to read historical records.

Life cannot be repeated, but history can be reviewed. The biggest advantage of this comment is that it can extend the dimension of life and broaden people's horizons. Know the impermanence of life, so cherish the present more; Understand the complexity of human nature, so I yearn for innocence. I have always thought that Sima Qian, who can write such an immortal work as Historical Records, must be a relatively pure scholar at heart. Otherwise, an old fox with no bottom line, how can he have any passion and ambition to write such a book that is neither profitable nor easy to be banned?

The night will eventually pass. What we need to do is to calm down, read and wait. Live well, and we will be witnesses of history.
