China minority language and literature major (Tibetan language and literature direction) adheres to the guidance of Marxism and trains students with firm and correct political direction, solid professional foundation and strong practical and innovative ability; Have an international vision and development potential, and systematically master the basic theories and knowledge of China language and literature disciplines and related minority language and literature majors; It has strong literary perception, reading ability of literary classics, aesthetic evaluation ability and the ability to skillfully use national lingua franca and minority languages for written and oral expression. After graduation, students can engage in teaching, scientific research, translation, administration, press and publication in the field of minority languages and literature on the basis of professional knowledge, with modern information technology and foreign language ability as the wings.

Under the background of multi-ethnic cultural education in schools, in order to further improve students' knowledge structure and enhance their interest in learning, this major has close ties with many famous foreign universities and research institutions. Invite domestic and foreign experts and scholars to hold various lectures and carry out international teaching cooperation. At the same time, students provide summer internship, social practice and graduation internship opportunities in Tibetan areas to improve their professional knowledge application ability and practical work ability. Students who meet the requirements for studying abroad can apply to study in high-level universities in the United States, Germany, Italy, Japan and other countries.

Students with outstanding achievements in this major can enter the "China Minority Language and Literature Professional Base Class" from the second grade and enjoy the treatment of "base class". Among them, the first 45% can be recommended to study for a master's degree without examination.

The main required courses are: Modern Chinese, Introduction to Linguistics, Introduction to Literature, Introduction to China Minority Languages, Introduction to China Minority Languages, General Introduction to Minority Languages (Tibet), History of China Minority Classical Literature (Tibet), Introduction to China Minority Language Translation Classics (Tibet) and Introduction to China Minority Folk Literature (Tibet).

The main elective courses are: Tibetan dialect, Tibetan lexicology, Sanskrit foundation, Tibetan language and writing history, Tibetan ancient philology, introduction to comparative literature, Tibetan history, history of Xiangxiong civilization, Tibetan cultural history, English-Tibetan translation practice, Tibetan translation history, Tibetan contemporary literature, Tibetan biographical literature guide and Tibetan computer application technology.

Employment and further study prospects

This major aims at cultivating compound talents with Tibetan, Chinese and English abilities. After four years of study, students can work in party and government organs, institutions, enterprises, companies, schools, press and publication, radio and television, scientific research institutions and other fields. Students in professional fields have a large space for further study, and our college has the right to award doctoral and master's degrees; Those who meet the requirements can also be recommended as test-free master students.
