Beijing Normal University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Beijing. It ranks among the national "double first-class", "985 Project" and "2 1 1 Project", and is one of the first ten universities to be built in the Seventh Five-Year Plan and the Eighth Five-Year Plan. He is a member of China University Planetary Science Alliance, Jinggang University Alliance and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Logistics and Supply Chain Innovation Alliance.

The school's predecessor was Shi Jing University Hall, which was founded in 1902. 1908 was renamed as Shi Jing Excellent Normal School, with independent organizational system. 19 12 was renamed Beijing Normal University. 1923, the school was renamed as Beijing Normal University, becoming the first normal university in the history of China. 193 1 year, 1952 Beiping Women's Normal University and Fu Jen Catholic University were successively merged into Beijing Normal University. 1959, identified by the central government as the first batch of national key universities.

Beijing Normal University is an important force in national humanities and social sciences research and technological innovation. In May 2020, the official website of the school showed that the school has 4 national key laboratories (including 2 joint laboratories), 1 national engineering laboratories, 1 national collaborative innovation center, 1 national high-end think tank construction and cultivation unit, 9 national key laboratories and 5 engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education.

It has seven key research bases of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, four national and regional research bases of the Ministry of Education, one research base of educational legislation of the Ministry of Education 1 2, four key laboratories of Beijing 12, four engineering centers of Beijing, two key research bases of philosophy and social sciences of Beijing, one research base of Beijing Language and Literature Working Committee 1, and one critical base of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles/kloc-0.
