Shanghai University of Engineering Science, referred to as "Engineering University", is located in Shanghai. It is the first batch of pilot universities in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, a demonstration university for the pilot work of the Excellent Engineer Program, and a leading unit for the construction of new engineering courses in local universities across the country.

The school was founded in 1978 by Shanghai Jiaotong University (Electromechanical Branch), East China Institute of Chemical Technology (now East China University of Science and Technology) Branch (1984 merged into Shanghai Jiaotong University Electromechanical Branch) and East China Textile Institute of Technology (now Donghua University) Branch.

1985 With the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shanghai University of Engineering Science was established on the basis of the above institutions. In 2003, Shanghai Senior Technical School (founded in 195 1) was merged into Shanghai University of Engineering Science.

Departmental setup

By July, 2022, Shanghai University of Engineering Science had established the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, the School of Management, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Art and Design, the School of Multimedia Design between China and Korea, and the School of Air Transportation (Flight School).

There are 63 undergraduate majors in teaching institutions such as Textile and Clothing College, Urban Rail Transit College, Mathematics and Statistics College, Foreign Languages College, Marxism College, International Education College, Continuing Education College, Higher Vocational and Technical College, Physical Education Department and Engineering Training Center.
