However, it was under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province at that time, and later it was renamed Hebei University of Technology and became a university jointly established by Hebei Province, Tianjin and the Ministry of Education. It is now Hebei University of Technology.

The predecessor of Hebei University of Technology is Beiyang Technical School, which was founded in 1903. It is the earliest institution of higher learning in China to train industrial talents, and founded the earliest university-run factory in China. 1929 was renamed Hebei Institute of Technology.

The school has 18 teaching institutions and 73 undergraduate majors, covering 7 disciplines, including economics, management, literature, law and art, with 2 national key disciplines, 4 strong characteristic disciplines and 20 provincial key disciplines in Hebei Province.
