Yunnan University is a 2 1 1 institution directly under the Ministry of Education, ranking among the top 50 universities in China.

Yunnan University was founded in 1922 as a private Donglu University, 1934 changed its name to provincial Yunnan University, and 1938 changed its name to national Yunnan University. It is one of the earliest comprehensive universities in the western frontier of China.

1996 was included in the first batch of national "2 1 1 project" key construction universities, in 2006, 5438+0 was included in the key construction universities of western development, and in 2004, it became the key construction universities of the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Yunnan Province. In 2006, the school accepted the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the expert group of the Ministry of Education, and was rated as an excellent undergraduate teaching school by the Ministry of Education.
