The so-called civil engineering refers to the planning, construction and maintenance of all infrastructure related to water, soil and culture. General civil engineering projects include: roads, water supply, drainage, flood control works and transportation. In the past, all civil engineering for non-military purposes fell into this category, but with the increasingly broad engineering science, many contents that originally belonged to the category of civil engineering have become independent disciplines. In a narrow sense, civilengineering is equal to civil engineering, that is, architectural engineering (or structural engineering).
This major trains senior engineering and technical personnel who master the basic theories and knowledge of various disciplines of civil engineering, and can be engaged in the planning, design, construction, management and research of housing construction, underground construction (including mine construction), roads, tunnels, bridge construction, hydropower stations, ports and offshore structures and facilities, water supply and drainage and foundation treatment.
