Inner Mongolia University of Technology is located in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Its predecessor was Suiyuan Senior Industrial School, which was founded in 195 1. 1958, with the support of Tsinghua University and others, Inner Mongolia Institute of Technology was established. It used to belong to the Ministry of Machinery Industry and the Ministry of Agricultural Machinery. 1983 was placed in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and 1993 was renamed Inner Mongolia University of Technology.

After 70 years of development, the school has been built into a multidisciplinary university with distinctive features, focusing on engineering, science, literature, economics, law, management, agriculture and arts, with a complete talent training system for doctors, masters and undergraduates.

Now there are 22 teaching units and 52 research institutes (institutes and centers); There are five doctoral degrees authorized by the first-level discipline, and as joint applicants, they jointly train doctoral students in the first-level discipline of Marxist theory in Inner Mongolia University.

There are 25 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, and master's degree authorization 15 categories such as business administration, engineering management, architecture, translation, social work, electronic information, machinery, materials and chemicals, energy and power, civil water conservancy, transportation, applied statistics, law, resources and environment, and landscape architecture.

There are two "double first-class" projects in the autonomous region to build first-class disciplines; There are 2 post-doctoral research mobile stations. There are 77 undergraduate majors, involving 37 professional categories, and they are qualified to recommend outstanding undergraduates to study for master's degrees without examination. The school has more than 23,600 undergraduates and more than 4,400 doctoral and master students.

At present, the school has 3 national and ministerial scientific research platforms, 20 key laboratories at the autonomous region level, 5 engineering (technical) research centers at the autonomous region level 15, 20 research platforms at other autonomous region-level research centers and demonstration bases, 1 academician expert workstation 1, 2 postdoctoral scientific research mobile stations and 3 autonomous region-level innovation teams1.
