The school was founded in 1903, formerly known as Yu Ying School. After a hundred years of vicissitudes, the school has changed its name and address several times. In the middle, it has gone through several stages of running a school, such as Cui Wen Academy and Middle School Attached to Normal University. 1955 was rated as the first batch of provincial key middle schools by Anhui provincial education department and the first batch of provincial demonstration high schools by Anhui provincial education department in 2000.

In 2023, there were 427 people in the college entrance examination (including 345 in science and 82 in liberal arts), with a success rate of 67.5 1% in science and 69.49% in liberal arts.
