Beijing language and culture university, directly under the Ministry of Education, is the only university in China that focuses on Chinese and China culture education. Later, the school was interrupted for several years because of the Cultural Revolution. 1972 after the resumption of school, the school actively expanded and steadily developed undergraduate education and postgraduate education, while maintaining the Chinese and China culture education for international students as its main school-running characteristics, forming a school-running pattern of co-education for Chinese and foreign students. 1June, 1996, with the approval of the State Education Commission, it was renamed as "beijing language and culture university" (English school name was beijing language and culture university), and in 2002, the Chinese school name was abbreviated as "beijing language and culture university".
