China People's Liberation Army Internal Affairs Regulations Article 89 Soldiers' hair should be neat and tidy. Male soldiers are not allowed to have long hair, big sideburns and beards, and their hair (wearing wigs) is not allowed to be exposed outside the hat. The length of the hat wall should not exceed 1.5 cm. Female soldiers should not braid their hair over their shoulders, and female soldiers should not have a perm. Heads above the division level may decide to leave one or more hairstyles for their subordinates within the specified hairstyles (see Appendix 10 for the reference hairstyles of male and female soldiers). Soldiers are only allowed to dye the same color as their original hair color.
