National University of Defense Technology, Central South University and China People's Liberation Army Hunan University. The handheld college entrance examination shows that as of February 2024, there were three 985 colleges and universities in Hunan, namely: National University of Defense Technology, Central South University and Hunan University. The following are the introductions of these three universities:

1, National University of Defense Technology of Chinese People's Liberation Army (hereinafter referred to as "National University of Defense Technology"), directly under the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Chinese Production Party, ranks as 156 key construction project, 21project, 985 project, double-class, military "21.

2. Central South University, referred to as "Central South University", is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the Central Government of People's Republic of China (PRC). It ranks in the first batch of "double first-class" (A-level construction of world-class universities), "985 Project" and "2 1 1 Project", and is also the first in the country.

3. Hunan University, referred to as "Huda" for short, is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city in Hunan Province, directly under the Ministry of Education of China, and is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. It is a national key university, ranking first in the 2 1 1 Project and the 985 Project, and has the Chinese Academy Museum and the National Academy.
