The predecessor of the Science and Technology Branch Library is the former Chongqing University Library. Established in 1930, and the Library Committee was established in 1932. Since 195 1, it has an independent library of 3,300 square meters and moved into a new library of 7,600 square meters on 1978. 1992 was funded by Mr. Shao Yifu, and the school itself also invested a lot of money. 1A new building (Yifu Building) was built at the end of 1994, with an area of 10380 m2. The old and new buildings are connected by an overpass, forming a magnificent complex in the center of the campus. The total building area is17980m2. There are two circulation desks and 13 reading room in the building, and * * * provides 1400 reading seats. Yifu Building also has 1 modern multifunctional academic conference hall.
At present, the library has more than 6,543,800 books and periodicals in the fields of machinery, electricity, computer, electric power, metallurgy, consulting, environment, biology, management engineering and social sciences, and is equipped with information carriers such as microfilm, CD-ROM and audio-visual, which basically forms a literature system suitable for our school's professional settings and can meet the needs of many parties in society. In addition, there are nearly 3000 kinds of wired ancient books and more than 4000 kinds of anti-Japanese books and periodicals, which are of great reference value.
In the library, there are foreign teaching materials center (machinery) of State Education Commission, and workstation of scientific and technological project consultation and achievement novelty retrieval center of colleges and universities of State Education Commission, which provide services such as document borrowing, reading, copying, retrieval, patent agency and scientific and technological novelty retrieval.
The library fully realizes the automation of business management, and is connected with the campus network and the Internet to provide online bibliographic query and other functions. The Building Department was established in June 1952 and June 10. It is formed by the merger of 10 departments (disciplines) of civil architecture in eight universities in southwest China, such as Chongqing University, North Sichuan University, Southwest Institute of Technology and Chengdu Art College. It is the first school of architecture and engineering established in New China, and 1978 has been identified as a national key university. The applied technology branch was established in 1978, with a building area of 5,538 square meters. The completion of the new library has fundamentally changed the situation of library literature work and laid a solid foundation for the development of the library. Each branch library is open-shelf lending, with a new book lending office, a book lending office, a periodical reading room, a professional reading room, a special collection reading room, and an architectural art reading room.

The digital library is open 24 hours a day, and the characteristic digital resources and general digital resources cover a wide range of fields, which can fully meet the literature needs of readers. Huxi Branch Library is located in the comprehensive building of Huxi Campus of Chongqing University, with a construction area of more than 2,600 square meters, a collection of more than 6,543,800 books and more than 600 reading seats. The branch library is integrated with borrowing and lending, and it is open 94 hours a week.

The cost of the new building is more than 200 million yuan, with a construction area of 36,000 square meters, with a total of 12 floors.
