Harbin University of Commerce, founded in 1952, is the first multidisciplinary business university in China. In 2000, it was formed by the merger of the former Heilongjiang Business School and Heilongjiang Finance College. The school is positioned as a teaching and research university and is one of the ten key universities in Heilongjiang Province.
The history of Harbin Commercial University can be traced back to 1952. In that year, with the consent of the Ministry of Education, the Northeast People's Government and the Harbin Municipal People's Government, Harbin Commercial Middle School was established. Subsequently, after several renaming and development, it was finally merged into Harbin University of Commerce in 2000.
