Henan University is a comprehensive research university established by the Henan provincial government and the provincial offices, and it is one of the first national "double-class" universities. The schools are located in Zhengzhou and Kaifeng respectively, and the current Party Secretary Lu Pingping and President Zhang Suojiang.
As of September 9, 2022, the school has Zhengzhou Longzihu Campus, Kaifeng Minglun Campus (modern architecture is a national key cultural relics protection unit) and Jin Ming Campus, with a total area of more than 5,500 mu, 13 disciplines, 36 colleges (teaching and research departments), 99 undergraduate majors, 48 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees, and 30 categories authorized by master's degrees, with 265,000.

By June 2022, there were 48 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, 29 categories authorized by master's degree, 2 1 first-level disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, 9 post-doctoral research stations 1 first-class disciplines, 39 provincial-level key disciplines authorized by first-level disciplines and 3 provincial-level key disciplines in two disciplines, covering literature, history and philosophy.
