Campus environment
St. Louis is the site of 1904 Summer Olympic Games. As early as the 1960s, a beautiful steel beam bridge appeared in this city across the Mississippi River. In the 1960s, another magnificent steel arch was built over the city. Shenghua University is located 9.7 kilometers west of the city. The campus is located next to forest parks and residential areas, with a wide field of vision and trees. European classical buildings and modern teaching buildings coexist on campus. Shenghua University is divided into four campuses: Danfoss Main Campus, West Campus, North Campus, Medical College Campus and Tai Sen Research Area. Where do first-year students usually live? School history
Washington University 1853 was founded in downtown St. Louis by Wyman Crowe, the leader of St. Louis, and william green Liv Eliot, the grandfather of Nobel Prize in Literature winner T.S. Eliot. A private secular college.
The University of Washington at St. Louis was founded as Eliot College. But Eliot, who was a priest at that time, was afraid that using his name would affect the secular nature of the school, so in 1854, the school board changed the name of the school to "Washington College" in memory of the founding father Washington.
1857 was renamed as "Washington University", which was earlier than another public Washington University. The University of Washington in Seattle was founded in 186 1 year (the Chinese translation of the two universities is the same). 1859, the university awarded its first four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in the name of Washington University, and moved to the campus 6 miles from St. Louis in 1905. In order to avoid public confusion about the common name of Washington University in more than 20 universities in the United States, 1976 changed its name again and added "in St.Louis", which has become the full name of Washington University in St. Louis to distinguish it from other schools. The official letterhead of the University of Washington is the University of Washington, and it also retains the corporate name of the University of Washington. Common nicknames are Washington University and Wu, both of which come from the initials of the school name.
