Yangtze University is the largest comprehensive university in Hubei Province with the most comprehensive disciplines. It is a key university in Hubei Province, a "double-first-class" university in Hubei Province, a national "basic capacity building project for universities in the central and western regions", an education and training plan for outstanding engineers of the Ministry of Education, and an education and training plan for outstanding agricultural and forestry talents.
The history of Yangtze University can be traced back to the establishment of Beijing Institute of Petroleum Technology in 1950. In 1978, it was renamed Jianghan Petroleum Institute, and began to hold general undergraduate education, which was affiliated to China Oil and Gas Corporation. In April 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the former Jianghan Petroleum College, Hubei Agricultural College, Jingzhou Normal College and Hubei Medical College of Health Workers merged to form Yangtze University.
Yangtze University has 26 secondary teaching colleges with 98 undergraduate majors, including 3 in economics, 1 1 management, 3 in law, 4 in education, 5 in literature, 7 in history, 7 in art, 35 in science and 65438 in engineering.
