Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Technology was established in 1985. Its predecessor was Guangdong Science and Technology Cadre College. In 2003, it was changed to an ordinary university. In 2004, it was established by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Construction as a pilot institution for training skilled talents in the construction industry.
