Hangzhou Dianzi University is a teaching and research university with outstanding electronic information characteristics and obvious advantages in economic management, with engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art infiltrating each other.

The school has strong scientific research strength, participated in and completed a series of national key scientific research projects from the Sixth Five-Year Plan to the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan, high-tech research projects such as "973" and "863", and national and provincial funded scientific research projects in many fields. The school has a complete talent training system including undergraduate education, postgraduate education, education for international students in China and continuing education. At present, there are 45 undergraduate enrollment majors, 18 major has been selected as the national first-class undergraduate specialty construction site, and 19 major has been selected as the provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction site.

There are 2 national comprehensive reform pilot majors, 6 pilot majors of "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, 7 national professional construction sites and 2 key majors with national defense characteristics. It is the only provincial university with national defense characteristics, and 8 majors have passed the professional certification of engineering education.
