1952 after the adjustment of departments in China, the department of physics in Peking University became the most powerful physical town in China, and successively founded or participated in the establishment of the first major in nuclear science, semiconductor physics, geophysics and microelectronics in China.
The College of Physics has four first-class doctoral programs in physics, atmospheric science, astronomy and nuclear science and technology, two national first-class key disciplines in physics and atmospheric science, two national second-class key disciplines in astrophysics and nuclear technology and application, and four post-doctoral mobile stations in physics, atmospheric science, astronomy and nuclear science and technology.
Physics, nuclear science and technology and atmospheric science are three national bases for basic research and teaching talents, while physics, atmospheric science, astronomy and nuclear science and technology are four undergraduate majors.
The Department of Physics of the Chinese University of Science and Technology is a national training base for scientific and technological talents and a doctoral training base of China Academy of Sciences. At present, physics department has physics and applied physics (condensed matter physics, microelectronics and solid state electronics).
At present, there are three undergraduate majors in optical information science and technology and four doctoral programs in condensed matter physics, optics, microelectronics, solid-state electronics and physical electronics, among which condensed matter physics and optics are national key disciplines.
