The Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics organizes a variety of academic, scientific and cultural activities every year, so that students can fully display their comprehensive qualities in all aspects. The Aircraft Creative Design Competition organized by the Association for Science and Technology has been held for five times and has gradually developed into one of the important brand activities of scientific and technological innovation in Tsinghua University. The model airplane team, mainly composed of students from the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, has made great achievements in the national model airplane competition for many times. Li Gan, an undergraduate, was awarded the "Science and Technology Star" in the first Tsinghua University (the whole school 10 student). At present, the Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics has built a student aviation innovation practice base and a small satellite innovation practice base. In recent years, the chorus competition of college students has won the first prize many times. In 2006 and 2007, the men's football team of Aviation Academy won the runner-up in Tsinghua University Football Group A competition and was commended by the Academy. The college has a relatively complete student honor system, with nearly 30% of students getting scholarships every year, and students with financial difficulties can get higher grants.
