Fudan University, located in Shanghai, a municipality directly under the Central Government of China, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It ranks among the first batch of key construction universities in China, such as "Double First Class" (Class A), "985 Project" and "2 1 1 Project", and has been selected into the Everest Plan, Strong Foundation Plan, 1 1 Plan and 20 165438 Plan.

It is the top comprehensive research university in China, including the national high-level university graduate program, the new engineering research and practice program, the scholarship receiving institution of China government for overseas students, the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the first batch of independent audit institutions with degree authorization, the Nine Universities Alliance (C9), the Pacific Rim University Alliance, and the China University Presidents Association.
