Professor Zhu Jiankang is an internationally renowned plant biologist and a leading figure in molecular biology of plant stress resistance. 20 10 was elected as an academician of the American Academy of Sciences, one of the youngest academicians of the American Academy of Sciences. 1993 received a doctorate in plant physiology from Purdue University. In 2000, he was hired as a full professor in the Department of Plant Science at the University of Arizona. He used to be the director and chair professor of the Institute of Integrated Genomics at the University of California, Riverside, distinguished professor, and the director of the Plant Stress Genome Research Center at King Saud University. Now he is an outstanding professor in the Department of Biochemistry and the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture of Purdue University. Professor Zhu Jiankang is mainly engaged in the research of plant stress molecular biology, and has made outstanding achievements in plant drought resistance, salt tolerance and low temperature tolerance. He has published more than 200 research papers in world-class academic journals such as Nature, Science and Cell, and is one of the most cited scientists in the field of plant science in the world.

Shanghai Plant Stress Biology Research Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences, led by Professor Zhu Jiankang and his core team, will focus on the frontier fields of plant science and major strategic scientific problems of biotechnology, unite first-class research teams, take knowledge innovation as the basis and aim at solving major strategic scientific and technological problems of the country, and become the source of original innovation in the frontier fields of plant science and biotechnology, the training base of high-level innovative talents and the experimental field for exploring new scientific research systems and mechanisms. After 5- 10 years of unremitting efforts, the research center will be built into a world-class frontier scientific research, academic exchange, personnel training and industrial promotion center of plant science and biotechnology.
