Beijing Dance Academy, located in Beijing, is the first professional dance school. It is a full-time ordinary university with the main task of cultivating high-quality dance talents, researching high-level dance theories and creating works.

The school was formerly Beijing Dance School, which was founded in 1954. 1978, with the approval of the State Council, Beijing Dance Academy was formally established, belonging to the Ministry of Culture. It was handed over to Beijing Municipal People's Government in 2000.
