Hello, I have been away from China for more than half a year. Thank you all the time. From the beginning, I gave up hope of going abroad. I have always felt that going abroad is a very distant thing for me. But as a result, I am now standing on American soil. In retrospect, I always feel that life is like a play, and you never know what will happen next.
My school is called New England College, which is located in Hennicke, New Hampshire, in the northeastern United States. First of all, introduce Henniker. Hennicke, located in the middle of New Hampshire, feels like a scenic tourist destination. Because it belongs to New England, the public security here is very good, surrounded by forests and clear lakes. I have to say that I really think this is a good place for retirement, leisure travel and study. But if you say to find some part-time jobs or more entertainment places, then I don't think you should come. It's about 3 minutes' drive from school to Snow Mountain. I can go skiing there in winter, which is what I have done recently. Hennicke can drive to Concord in about 20 minutes, which is a more prosperous city than Hennicke. International students here usually drive to buy food on weekends. A little further, it takes about 40 minutes to reach Manchester, the capital of New Hampshire, a more prosperous city than Concord. Henniker is only about 1 hour from Boston, with a maximum of 2 hours' drive. Sometimes my friends and I will drive there to eat lobster, taste some Chinese food and buy some Chinese food in Chinatown. A little further, about two hours' drive, there is a big outlet and a big Korean supermarket, where you can buy a lot of China food and spices.
The school accounts for almost a large part of Hennicke, and our senior joked that the New England College is the landlord of Hennicke. A small river surrounds the school, and many people go swimming or boating in spring. There are pharmacies and markets around the school, which are equivalent to two convenience stores in China. There is also a China restaurant called GINGIN nearby. Although the food is not authentic Chinese food, it is passable. There is a bank next to China Restaurant, which is convenient for students to deposit and withdraw money. The Americans here are all very quality and friendly. The school has a library, a basketball hall, a gymnasium, a small football field, a hockey field and a canteen. China students who come here to study generally choose to live outside, because the dormitory in the school is more expensive and students are not allowed to live during holidays.
Let's talk about learning. Most people from China will take ESL courses first, that is, language courses. Compared with specialized courses, the language course is very easy, and it is also a transition before giving me specialized courses, so that I have enough time to adapt to life here and understand the surrounding environment. Now I have finished the language course and started my professional course accounting. There is not much time in class, but the amount of homework after class is still relatively large, which requires higher English level, which is what I am trying to improve now. At present, people from China mainly study accounting, management and education, and a few people from China are studying undergraduate courses. The total number of people in China is about 20, but less than 30.
Finally, talk about the community in China. I started this club for several reasons: 1 There is no Chinese club in the school; I want to build a platform to provide China students, including me, with more opportunities to get in touch with American schools and get to know Americans. At the same time, I hope Americans can learn more about China, whether it is China culture or China people. I hope I can help some new China people adapt to the environment here more quickly and let everyone know each other. Because we are all from China, I think we should be more United. The association has just been established, and there are few people in China, so it won't have much scale. So far, several parties have been held, including those in China and those to which Americans are invited. At the same time, a China Year activity has just been held, with the aim of bringing China people together in the new year. At the same time, students from other societies were invited to the party and had dinner together. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, they also distributed red envelopes at school to promote the Chinese New Year culture in China. Because there are more graduate students than undergraduates, and the graduate courses are relatively tight, and there are not many people in China, the club will not hold activities regularly at present, but hold some on holidays.
