At that time, the university was composed of three buildings, mainly: King's Manor (formerly Thomas? Wentworth's residence, which used to be the headquarters of the Northern Committee), and Heslington Hall (which used to be the residence of Thomas Ains, secretary and seal keeper of the Northern Committee). A year later, it began to expand the Hurlington campus and formed the main part of today's university.

geographical position

York's historic buildings and old streets are world-famous. The city center is surrounded by medieval walls. Strolling along the winding streets, you will see cafes, pubs, clubs, restaurants, museums and shops with unique local flavor. Although York has a long history, it also has a strong international atmosphere and colorful nightlife.

university

York University is nominally established in eight colleges, providing student accommodation and some academic units. However, the college of the school is more like the hall of the house, but it is not particularly strong in centripetal force to the traditional college like Niu Jian. According to the date of establishment, the existing colleges of York University are as follows:

? Derwent, named after Devon River in Yorkshire.

? Langwith is named after an abandoned village in York called Langwith.

? Arquin, a famous York scholar in memory of Charles the Great.

? Wanbulu, in memory of the famous architect john vanbrugh.

? Goodrich, in memory of john goodricke, a Dutch astronomer who settled in York.

? Wentworth is a graduate school, named after Thomas Wentworth, a politician during the English Civil War.

? James, in memory of the First Vice-Chancellor of the University, Lord James of Andrey Rusol.

? Halifax College was founded in the academic year of 20012002, named after the first Earl of Halifax.

Except Halifax College, which is located on the edge near the village of Hurlington, all other colleges are located on the main campus. Eden Court Residential Area is part of derwent College, but students use Halifax equipment. There are also several off-campus dormitories: holgate Dormitory, Catherine Dormitory and Stables.

divide

The campus of York University is usually divided into different areas. In addition to the above eight colleges, there are eight branches, and the other branches are:

? Biology school district.

? The central hall is a hall where exams are held and achievements are displayed.

? The field of chemistry.

? The field of information science.

? The field of environmental research.

? Fairfax house, student dormitory.

? Hurlington Hall.

? Library area, by J.B. Morrell, Raymond Burton and Borthwick.

? Music section.

? School district of physics and electronics.

? Psychological school district.

? Gymnasium area.

Departments of universities are usually built in one of these areas. For example, the Department of Mathematics is in Goodrich College, the Department of Politics is in derwent College, and the Department of Economics is in Altun College.
