20 15 is the 50th anniversary of the publication of Alice in Wonderland 150, so I took this book everywhere, from Taipei to London, and then to Oxford, and I never forgot to go to the Mann Library in new york to see the special exhibition. This course is actually the life experience of a book lover (or someone who likes to get to the bottom of it).
Alice in Wonderland was written by British writer lewis carroll (1832- 1898), whose original name was charles dodgson. He is a young math teacher in the Christian Church of Oxford University, which was not an easy position at that time and now.
He likes taking pictures and playing with children. He often plays with three girls of Professor Henry liddell, then the new dean, on or near the campus. The story begins at1July 4th, 862. They swam across the river by boat in Godstow. Charles began to tell stories to girls, telling stories about the East and the West. Although the imaginary content is absurd, it is fascinating, so after getting off the boat, Alice has been asking him to write down the story and give it to them.
Alice's Underground Adventure is the original Gift written and painted by charles dodgson. This book was completed at the end of 1864 and was given to Alice. In her later years, she put this book in Sotheby's auction, which was obtained by Mr. Rosenbach, a famous American ancient book collector. After World War II, these original works, which were collected and auctioned many times, were given to Britain as gifts through an organization and have been kept in the British Library.
The version we are looking at is 1865 officially printed and published. At that time, Charles Dodgson published himself, invited Sir John Tenniel to paint, and changed his name to the pen name Lewis Carroll, which later became the pen name of his novels and poems. This kind of story is very different from the books written for teenagers or adults at that time, so Luoyang Paper Expensive was reprinted again and again for a while. So far, more than 200 illustrators and artists have reinterpreted different versions.
The three sisters who traveled by boat were lorina (1849- 1930), Alice (1852- 1934) and Edith (1854- 1876). Their mentor's nanny, Mary Prickett, also became the inspiration for the Queen of Hearts. Mr. Dodgson, who stuttered a little, became a dodo himself. Such background figures and places let us know that the family life in liddell at that time was not an ordinary child. She was born in a family of social elites, intellectuals and scholars, so her later life was even more bumpy.
