"Art Design" is the name of the undergraduate enrollment discipline determined by the Ministry of Education of Chinese mainland 1997, and its English translation is Art and Design. In the classification of design disciplines of Chinese mainland education department, art design and industrial design are juxtaposed, such as graphic design, exhibition design, environmental art design, decoration design, fashion design and so on. Of course, the concept of design itself has a narrow sense and a broad sense, and the narrow sense of design only refers to industrial design. However, generally speaking, design refers to the broad concept of design, that is, design including artistic design. From 65438 to 0998, Chinese mainland the State Council Academic Degrees Committee established a discipline classification different from the Ministry of Education, and "art design" was called "design art" in the State Council's discipline classification. Chinese mainland's undergraduate (undergraduate) enrollment uses the discipline classification of the Ministry of Education, and postgraduate enrollment uses the classification of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee. In China's domestic design and art circles, these two names are basically interchangeable except in some articles devoted to the naming of disciplines. In fact, there is no significant difference between the two names in connotation, and they are both called "Design" in English literature.
